Premise: This book is about eight strangers who wake up in an alien containment facility with no memory of how they arrived. They all remember the War of 1812 vividly, but it was centuries ago. As they explore their prison on a hostile alien planet, they uncover a shocking truth: an advanced alien species called the Architects orchestrated the War of 1812 as part of a centuries-long experiment studying human conflict and aggression. The survivors are not prisoners of war, but in fact are permanent test subjects in a galaxy-spanning research program that has imprisoned thousands of species from different worlds.
